Anyway now I somehow have like 18 updated Demon Slayer birthday invitations saved in Canva folders I’ll probably never organize properly.
And my kids were VERY invested suddenly.
One liked the bold dramatic designs.
The other kept saying:
“This one’s too extra.”
Which honestly?? Fair feedback 😂
How I Improved 18+ Demon Slayer Invitation Designs With Better Fonts
I was cleaning out that one kitchen drawer everybody has — the chaotic “junk drawer” situation with dead batteries, random soy sauce packets, expired coupons, and approximately 47 pens that don’t work 😭 — and I found a stack of old birthday invitations from last year.
And instead of throwing them away like a normal person, I sat there at the counter flipping through them while reheating my coffee for the third time.
Some of them were actually still kinda cute??
Like okay:
the layouts held up
the spacing wasn’t terrible
the colors needed help BAD
but overall? Not a disaster
And then my brain immediately went:
“Waitttt… these would actually look so good as Demon Slayer birthday invitations.”
So naturally I opened Canva “for five minutes.”
Which turned into me sitting there for like an hour swapping backgrounds, changing fonts, and arguing with myself over which character design looked coolest without making the invite look too busy 😂
Honestly though? Reusing old invitation layouts is now one of my favorite little mom shortcuts.
Because starting from scratch every single time is exhausting. I do not have “reinvent the wheel” energy on a random Tuesday afternoon.
And weirdly enough, the Demon Slayer theme worked SO well once I toned everything down a little.
Why I Even Bother Making My Own Demon Slayer Birthday Invitations
Because every time I try shopping for invitations online, I end up thinking:
“Wait… I could literally make this myself.”
I didn’t always do this, by the way.
I used to order invites online like a normal person. And sometimes it worked! But also… sometimes it didn’t.
Like one year they showed up late. Another time the colors were off. And I swear one batch looked way cuter on the website than in real life (rude).
So now? I just make them myself.
Is it perfect? Nope.
Is it faster and cheaper and way less annoying? Yeah, pretty much.
Keeping the Demon Slayer Vibe Without Going Overboard
Okay so here’s the thing I learned – especially with Demon Slayer birthday invitations.
Kids LOVE the show. Obviously.
But not every parent wants something super intense coming home in their kid’s backpack, you know?
So I tried to keep it more “inspired by” instead of like… full anime battle scene energy.
What worked for me:
that green and black checker pattern (you kinda have to lol)
darker backgrounds so everything pops more
tiny sword details — like subtle, not scary
I almost added one of those super dramatic character images at first… and then I was like, ehhh maybe not.
Pulled it back. Good call.
It still felt themed, just not… a lot.
Saving Money (and Honestly My Sanity)
Not gonna lie, this was like 80% about not spending money.
Because invites are cute, yes, but also… they live on someone’s fridge for like a week and then disappear into the void.
So I did:
free template
edited it myself
printed for cheap
Done.
Also it didn’t take my whole day, which – if you have kids – you already know that’s the real win.
The Best Part: Fixing Stuff Last Minute
If you think you need more options to choose from, you may need to see another collection from us. Regarding the theme in this post, I will suggest you look at these Festive Disney Coco, Ready and Go Paw Patrol, Simple Bluey baby shower invitation templates.

My kid changed the party time. Twice.
Like full-on:
“Actually can we do it later?”
Then the next day: “Wait no earlier is better.”
Cool cool cool.
But instead of reordering anything, I just went back into Canva, changed the time, re-downloaded.
Took maybe 2 minutes? If that.
That alone made me feel like I had my life together for a second 😂
How I Actually Made These (No Tech Skills Required)
I’m gonna be honest — I am not a “design mom.”
Like some moms out there? Incredible. Beautiful coordinated everything.
Me? I just click around until it looks right.
Getting the Template Set Up
Super simple.
Clicked the template link, hit “use template,” and it opened in Canva.
If you don’t have an account, you’ll need one, but it’s quick. I literally signed up while waiting for pasta to boil.
Multitasking queen… kinda.
Editing Without Ruining It (Almost Did Though)
Okay so small warning.
I almost made mine unreadable.
Because I switched everything to darker colors (for that Demon Slayer vibe), and suddenly the text was like… blending in.
Looked cute on screen. Printed? Not so much.
So I fixed it by:
- switching text to bright white
- making my kid’s name bigger (this matters more than anything lol)
- removing one fancy font that was just doing too much
After that it looked way cleaner.
Not perfect-perfect, but like… “oh she tried” in a good way.
Tiny Extras That Helped More Than I Expected
I skipped adding a photo this time because my kid is currently in a “no pictures, mom” phase 🙃
But I did add a QR code for directions.
And WOW okay… why did I not do that sooner?
No one texted me asking for the address. Not once.
That alone? Worth it.
The Actual Designs I Ended Up Using
I didn’t go crazy with options.
Because too many choices = me overthinking everything.
So I stuck with a few:
- green checkered layout → main character energy
- deep red with flame accents → a little dramatic but fun
- lighter anime-style → kinda softer, good for younger kids
- black minimal design → for kids who think they’re grown now
And that’s it.
Pick one, move on, don’t spiral (telling myself that too).
Printing My Demon Slayer Birthday Invitations (Learned This the Hard Way)
I used to think printing didn’t matter.
Like paper is paper, right?
No. Apparently not.
Paper Actually Makes a Difference
Regular printer paper?
Feels like homework.
Cardstock?
Okay yeah… that’s the move.
I went with matte because:
no glare
easier to read
just feels nicer in your hands
Glossy is pretty, but fingerprints showed up immediately and I was like… yeah no.
Home Printer vs Just Letting Someone Else Do It
I tried both.
Home printer was fine in a rush. But the colors weren’t as bold as I wanted.
So I ended up going to Walgreens for the 5×7 prints.
Cheap. Fast. Honestly looked better than what I could do at home.
Staples is also good if you want thicker paper, but Walgreens was just easier for me that day.
Cutting Them… Slightly Crooked but It’s Fine
I cut them while watching a show.
Which means… yeah, not perfectly straight.
But here’s the thing – literally no one noticed.
Not one kid.
Not one parent.
So if yours aren’t perfect? You’re good.
Promise.
What Happened After (Because That’s the Real Test)
So my kid handed one invite to his friend and goes:
“Look, it’s Demon Slayer.”
And his friend just goes, “That’s sick.”
And honestly? That was it. That was the review I needed.
One mom texted me asking where I printed them, and when I said I made them she was like:
“Wait, seriously??”
I did not mention that it took me like… an hour total and half of that I was distracted 😅
Party Stuff That Kind of Matched (But I Didn’t Go All Out)
Once the invites were done, I just kinda followed the same vibe.
Nothing fancy.
Decorations That Didn’t Stress Me Out
We did:
green and black balloons
super basic backdrop (literally taped paper to the wall, not proud but it worked)
little treat bags with candy + tiny toy swords
That’s it.
Looked put together enough.
Activities That Required Zero Brain Power
I kept it super simple:
obstacle course (aka random stuff from the garage)
tag, but we called it “demon chase”
coloring pages for the younger kids
They ran around, they laughed, no one got hurt.
Success.
Thank You Cards (Do This While You’re Still in Canva)
Okay this is one of those little hacks.
Make your thank-you cards right after the invites.
Because everything is already set up.
I reused the same design, changed the text, done in like 5 minutes.
Future me was VERY grateful.
Quick Answers I Got From Other Moms
- Are these Demon Slayer birthday invitations actually free?
Yeah, the template was free.
I only paid for printing.
- What do you need to edit them?
Just Canva.
Phone, laptop, whatever.
I did half of it on my phone while sitting in the car, not even kidding.
- Can you use this for something else?
Oh totally.
Playdates, themed hangouts, whatever phase your kid is in next week 😂
- What if it doesn’t come out right?
Same. Happened to me too.
Just:
- print a test copy first
- keep the text readable
- don’t try to do too much
Simple really does look better most of the time.
Real Talk at the End
I had like 20 other things going on that week.
Laundry. Work. Grocery run I kept putting off.
This was just one of those small wins.
I reused something I already had, made a few tweaks, didn’t overthink it (okay maybe a little), and ended up with Demon Slayer birthday invitations that actually looked… pretty good.
Not Pinterest-perfect.
But real-life good.
And my kid thought they were cool, so yeah.
That’s enough for me.
