Don’t let the fact that you’re growing another year older stop you from organizing a terrifyingly entertaining Halloween birthday party. This list includes everything you’ll need to throw a party that your guests will be talking about until next October. After all, it’s your birthday, so you want to look your best—and because it’s Halloween, that means dressing up in a costume that will impress everyone.
Halloween Themed Birthday Party Ideas
Now is the perfect time to have a backyard Halloween party if you have the space. If an outside space is required, there are a number of event locations that will hold private events in gardens or patios. Choosing an open place will help to keep your visitors from getting too near.
Party Decorations
With jack-o-lanterns, spider webs, eerie skulls, and hanging bats, turn your outdoor party spot into a haunted house! Table settings and napkins should be orange and black, and table centerpieces should be pumpkins and gourds. Based on the age groups who will be attending, decide how creepy you want the atmosphere to be. To keep stuff from blowing away, don’t forget tablecloth weights and napkin holders.
Spooky Lighting
Once the sun goes down, you’ll want to make sure your guests can see where they’re going – especially if you’ve got a boozy signature cocktail going around. Repurpose old Christmas lights and make sure narrow walkways and paths are sufficiently lit. If you’re like any sensible parent and are worried about leaving a fire unattended, opt for battery-operated flameless candles for your jack o’ lanterns instead of the usual tealights.
Table and Chair Decor
If your guest list is small, you should be able to use the seats you already have. If you need to, you can repurpose indoor furniture, or you can rent furniture for a reasonable price. Most outdoor venues will include seats and tables, but double-check (especially if it’s a business event) while you’re doing your research.
Specific Station
Make sure there are clear stations to show where things go. Sanitary plates and cutlery should be kept separate from used dishes. Ensure that trash cans and recycling bins are easily accessible to everyone. Make signs with skulls and crossbones to indicate what has been utilized, if you want to get into the Halloween atmosphere.
Party Invitations
Make and distribute Halloween-themed invitations to your visitors once you’ve decided on a guest list so they can RSVP! It will be easier to plan the party if you know who will be able to attend ahead of time.
Send digital invitations via email or use one of the creepy designs I have available right now. Include any additional information, such as what to bring or where to park if necessary, in the invitations.

Instead of presenting refreshments that must be shared this Halloween, search for meals that you can serve to your guests individually. Classic BBQ appetizers, such as burgers or skewered vegetables and meats, might save your visitors from having to handle too much food. If you want to provide a unique dining experience, hire a caterer for professional and safe food handling. This will relieve you of some of the burden, allowing you to enjoy the Halloween festivities as well.
