From the moment I first heard “We Are!” echoing from the living room, I knew my son had fallen head over heels for the world of One Piece. So naturally, when he requested a Luffy-themed bash for his 8th birthday, I said, “AYE AYE, CAPTAIN!” And let me tell you — it turned out to be one of the most fun, colorful, and budget-friendly parties I’ve ever thrown. So grab your straw hat and get ready. I’m going to share all the treasure I found — from DIY decorations to free editable invitation templates, cake and snack ideas, fun party games, and everything in between.
No birthday party is complete without some fun games to burn off that cake sugar rush! For our One Piece-themed celebration, I wanted activities that were easy to prep, didn’t require a bunch of space or supplies, and kept kids engaged for more than two minutes (mamas, you know the struggle).
One of the biggest hits? One Piece coloring pages! Yep, I printed out free printable coloring sheets of Luffy, Nami, Chopper, and Zoro and set up a “Color Like a Pirate” station with crayons, markers, and even a few glitter pens for the artistic kids. I added a sign that said “Color your Crew!” and even had a little contest where each child got to display their masterpiece on the “Ship’s Gallery Wall.” It was budget-friendly, easy to set up, and gave the kids a creative break between games.

We also played:
- “Pin the Hat on Luffy” – I printed a big picture of Luffy (minus the hat), made some straw hats on cardstock, and blindfolded the kids. It was hilarious and so simple.
- “Treasure Hunt” – I hid golden coins and tiny pirate trinkets around the house and gave them a treasure map. The excitement was real.
- “Devil Fruit Toss” – We used colored bean bags (a.k.a. Devil Fruits) and had the kids toss them into treasure chests. Each round, the chest got farther. It was a mix of challenge and fun, and they LOVED it.
And let’s not forget the classic photo booth moments! With our Gear 5 backdrop, pirate props, straw hats, and goofy sunglasses, even the shyest kids jumped in to strike a pose. I even printed a few photos during the party so they could take a memory home with them.
