“with Free Invitations and So Much Pink”
It all started with a dress. A puffy, glittery, pastel-pink dress that shimmered under the store lights like it had been sprinkled with fairy dust. My daughter, Aurora—yes, her name is really Aurora, and yes, I had a theme in mind before she was even born—spotted it in the window during one of our stroller strolls. She sat up straighter in her seat, pointed her tiny finger with impressive urgency, and made a sound that was somewhere between a gasp and a royal decree. I swear, it was like she’d just laid eyes on her birthright.
She reached toward that dress with all the determination her chubby little arms could muster, her eyes wide with wonder. And even though the words hadn’t quite come yet, the message was loud and clear: “That. Is. Mine.” In that moment, it didn’t matter that she couldn’t walk without wobbling or that she had no idea what birthdays were. This girl knew style. She knew magic. And I knew—without a doubt—what theme her first birthday had to be.

Now, I’m not usually one for over-the-top events (okay, I say that, but then you should’ve seen me at her half-birthday), but something about this being her first just tugged at my heart. I wanted it to be soft, dreamy, and Disney—all the things that say “our little girl’s first royal celebration.” So, Aurora’s birthday party was born: part Sleeping Beauty magic, part DIY madness, and 100% from the heart. Of course, the very first step was to let everyone know this fairytale was happening.
