Let me tell you something. A few summers ago, I was that mom—scrambling at the last minute, trying to figure out how to keep the kids busy (and sane), while praying the heat didn’t melt what was left of my patience.
Then, I had a lightbulb moment: Why not turn the week into a celebration? Not just any theme—Ice Cream Week. Five full days of chilled treats, cute crafts, and fun that doesn’t require booking a vacation.
And guess what? It was a hit. Like, neighborhood-talk-for-weeks kind of hit.
So now, I’m spilling all the creamy, dreamy secrets here – just for you.
Day 1: DIY Ice Cream Sundae Bar
5 Days of Tasty and Playful Summer Fun Ice Cream Week
You have to kick things off with a sundae bar. It’s the ultimate summer kickoff. Set out a bunch of toppings—think crushed cookies, sprinkles, gummy bears, mini marshmallows—and let the kids go wild.
Pro tip: Freeze scoops of ice cream ahead of time in muffin tins lined with cupcake wrappers. That way, you just plop them into bowls and boom – no stress.
And hey, I’ve got some printable signs and cute menu cards over on Drevio.com to make your setup look like Pinterest without actually trying too hard.
Day 2: Ice Cream Cone Craft Day
Okay, this day is all about keeping little hands busy. We made pom-pom cones, painted scoops, and even had a “design your dream flavor” coloring contest.
Let them use glitter, paint, stickers—whatever you’ve got in that craft drawer (we all have one that’s just chaos in a box).
Need printables? You know I’ve already uploaded some free templates on Drevio. Just download, print, and let the mini artists take over.
Day 3: Ice Cream Games & Backyard Challenges
Time to burn off that sugar, honey.
We did a cone relay race (yes, they had to carry a foam “ice cream” ball in a cone and not drop it). There was also “Pin the Cherry on the Cone” and an ice cream scoop stacking game using sponges.
Simple, silly, and surprisingly competitive.

Day 4: Ice Cream Story & Movie Night
By now, everyone needs a chill day. We made a cozy blanket fort and read ice cream-themed storybooks. (I know, wholesome mom moment, right?)
Later, we watched a movie—”Wreck-It Ralph” was the pick, because Sugar Rush totally fits the vibe.
Don’t forget to prep some popcorn and mini ice cream cones to snack on. And yes, I do have a movie night invite template you can grab for free on the site.

Day 5: Ice Cream Party Picnic
The grand finale! We laid out a picnic with cute paper plates, fruit skewers, and of course, ice cream sandwiches wrapped in printable sleeves I designed myself.
Honestly, this day was pure joy. The kids had their favorite flavors, there were water balloons involved, and I even let them go wild with bubbles.
You can totally recreate this without a fuss—and guess where the free printable sleeves and checklist are? Right. Drevio.com
