As an invitation designer, you’d think most of the emails I get would be about fonts, cardstock, or printer settings. Not really. Most of the time, parents are simply trying to figure out what birthday theme they should throw this weekend. I’m not even joking.
Somewhere along the way, running an invitation shop accidentally turned me into an unofficial birthday party researcher. I spend a surprising amount of time keeping up with whatever theme kids are currently obsessed with because if people are searching for it, chances are someone is also asking me if I have a matching invitation for it.
Lately, one theme keeps showing up over and over again. Paw Patrol Jungle Pups. And honestly, I understand why. The second I started working on this invitation, I could immediately see the appeal. It takes everything kids already love about Paw Patrol and somehow makes it even more exciting by adding jungle adventures, tropical animals, explorer gear, and lots of bright colors.
It feels like Paw Patrol, but with a little more adventure. A little more action. And somehow a lot more opportunities for fun party decorations. I also love that this theme works for parents because it doesn’t require turning your entire house into a movie set. A few tropical leaves, some jungle-inspired balloons, and a couple of animal decorations already make everything start feeling connected.
For me though, every party starts the same way. With the invitation. Because once the invitation starts looking right, the rest of the party suddenly becomes easier to imagine too. You start thinking about the cake, then the decorations, then the snacks and then finally the games. Before you know it, you’re standing in the middle of Target holding jungle-themed napkins and wondering how this became your Saturday afternoon.
First Things First… The Invitation
This invitation is genuinely beautiful, and the design concept goes beyond simply placing PAW Patrol characters on a colored background it creates an atmosphere, and that distinction is worth appreciating before you download it. The backdrop is a richly rendered jungle scene deep teal and forest green layers of foliage building depth from foreground to background.
One thing I noticed while designing this invitation is that Paw Patrol Jungle Pups already has so much personality built into it. Some themes rely heavily on decorations to feel complete. This one doesn’t. The jungle setting does a lot of the heavy lifting. The tropical leaves. The explorer outfits. The bright greens and oranges. The animal details scattered throughout the design.
Anyway, with a large curved dark arch at the upper center suggesting the entrance to a jungle clearing or cave. Tropical leaves hang from vines along the top border, and lush jungle plants crowd the lower edges of the frame, giving the whole composition a sense of being genuinely inside the wilderness rather than simply looking at it.
Everything already feels playful before you even start decorating for the party itself. I also wanted the invitation to feel adventurous without becoming too busy. Kids love colorful designs, but parents still need to quickly find the important information without searching through a jungle of graphics and text. Finding that balance ended up being my favorite part of designing this invitation.
In the center of this jungle atmosphere, the three Jungle Pups (Chase, Marshall, Skye, Rocky and more) appear in their expedition gear. Chase stands front and center in his blue vest and explorer hat with the distinctive PAW Patrol badge on the front that alert, ready expression he always wears before a mission.
Rocky occupies the left side in his green vest and green explorer hat, looking slightly curious and characteristically thoughtful. Tracker peeks in from the right in his brown ranger-style hat and earthy vest, his expression wide-eyed and enthusiastic in the way only Tracker can manage.

Let’s Customize The Invitation
One thing I’ve learned from helping parents with invitations is that nobody wants to spend an hour figuring out design software while also planning a birthday party. Most of us are already trying to remember whether we bought candles, if the cake has been ordered, and why there are suddenly twenty Paw Patrol toys spread across the living room floor. That’s why I always appreciate templates that keep things simple.
You can open this invitation on your phone, tablet, or laptop and update the birthday details in just a few minutes. Usually the first thing parents change is the birthday name because that’s the moment the invitation suddenly stops feeling like a template and starts feeling like their party.
Then it’s just a matter of adding the date, location, RSVP details, and any special wording you’d like to include. And once the invitation was finished, I immediately started thinking about what it would look like printed.
The Printed Invitation Looks Even Better
I personally still love printing invitations in the classic 5×7 A7 size because it feels timeless without being oversized. It’s easy to mail, easy to hand out, and still gives the design enough room to breathe. For this Paw Patrol Jungle Pups invitation, I’d absolutely recommend printing on 250gsm 80lb matte cardstock. The tropical greens, oranges, blues, and jungle details end up looking rich and vibrant without becoming overly shiny.
If printing at home isn’t your thing, local print shops make everything incredibly easy. Staples usually does a great job with colorful invitations, and Walgreens has saved more last-minute birthday planners than we probably realize. Once the invitations were finished though, my attention immediately moved to what might be my favorite part of any party. The decorations.
Let’s Talk Decorations (Welcome To The Jungle)
One reason I think Paw Patrol Jungle Pups is becoming so popular is because decorating feels surprisingly simple. You don’t need giant custom backdrops or expensive props to make the theme work. A few tropical leaves, some jungle-colored balloons, animal print accents, and a handful of Paw Patrol decorations already create the atmosphere. The jungle theme naturally fills in the gaps.
Before long, the room starts feeling less like your dining area and more like a tiny adventure camp. And the nice thing is that kids immediately understand the theme. You don’t have to explain anything. The second they walk in, they’re ready to go exploring. Of course, once the decorations start coming together, there’s one question everyone eventually asks. What are we doing for the cake?
Okay, Let’s Talk About The Cake
One thing I love about Paw Patrol Jungle Pups cakes is that they don’t need to be overly complicated to look impressive. The jungle theme gives you so many options. You can add tropical leaves, animal prints, little explorer details, jungle animals, or your child’s favorite Paw Patrol characters. Even a simple cake suddenly feels themed once those little details start showing up. The same goes for cupcakes and desserts.
Everything somehow fits naturally. And honestly, kids usually care a lot more about colorful frosting than whether the cake belongs on Pinterest. After everyone finishes dessert, that’s usually when the energy level somehow doubles. Which means it’s time for games.

Set out green, brown, orange, and yellow markers front and center alongside the full color range, and if possible include some leafy-green colored pencils for the jungle foliage elements.
