Charlotte was cleaning out the playroom (well… “cleaning” is a generous word), and she found one of her old JoJo’s Circus DVDs buried under a mountain of stuffed animals. Next thing I know, Louise is asking a million questions about clowns, circus tents, and why elephants wear hats. Kids are funny like that. One random Tuesday and suddenly I’m back in Canva making more JoJo’s Circus Invitation designs instead of doing literally anything on my to-do list.

Why JoJo’s Circus Invitations Are Still So Stinkin’ Cute

I’m kinda surprised this theme doesn’t get talked about more.

Little kids eat this stuff up. Bright colors? Check. Silly animals? Yep. Balloons, stars, circus tents, goofy little details everywhere? They’re all in.

When I started putting these new designs together, I didn’t wanna make them look like one giant rainbow exploded. Been there. It ends up looking… loud. Like, my eyeballs need a nap loud.

So I kept all the fun circus vibes—bright reds, sunny yellows, pops of blue, striped tents, juggling pins, confetti, carnival banners—but gave everything a little breathing room.

Honestly? Kids notice all the cute stuff.

Parents notice whether they can actually find the party time in two seconds.

Both things matter.

One thing I’ve learned after making invitations for Charlotte, Louise, cousins, neighbors, school friends… if Grandma has to squint to find the address, I messed up somewhere.

Canva is basically my safety net at this point.

I always tell myself it’ll take “like… five minutes.”

Girl.

It’s never five minutes.

I changed the birthday name… then I didn’t like the font.

Changed the font.

Then suddenly the text looked too close to the balloons.

Moved that.

Then the yellow looked weird once I zoomed out.

Changed that too.

Meanwhile Andrew walks by and goes, “Didn’t you already finish that?”

Sir.

Respectfully… no.

One tiny mistake I almost made was picking this super curly circus font because I thought it looked adorable.

Cute? Yes.

Readable? Absolutely not.

It looked like spaghetti.

So I switched to something way cleaner, kept the colorful headings, and honestly the whole invitation looked ten times better.

Now I pretty much just swap:

  • kid’s name
  • age
  • party date
  • location
  • RSVP

maybe one accent color if the birthday kid is currently obsessed with green this week

Because let’s be real… their favorite color changes every Tuesday.

Tips for Personalizing Your JoJo’s Circus Invite Like You Actually Spent Forever On It

JoJos Circus birthday party ideas11

Okay here’s my favorite lazy-mom hack.

Match one color on the invitation to whatever your kid is wearing that day.

That’s it.

Charlotte had this bright yellow dress she refused to take off for like… two weeks.

So I made the little circus banners yellow too.

Nobody noticed why everything matched.

They just kept saying,

“Omg this is so cute.”

I’ll take it.

Another thing I do?

I don’t overload the invitation with every single circus graphic Canva has.

Trust me.

Just because there are seventeen balloon stickers doesn’t mean seventeen balloon stickers need to live on one invitation.

Sometimes less really does look cuter.

And if your kid is obsessed with animals way more than clowns? Lean into the elephants and lions.

If they’re all about balloons? Add more balloons.

Nobody’s gonna stop you.

It’s Canva.

Have fun with it.

My Favorite JoJo’s Circus Invitation Templates Right Now

JoJos Circus birthday party ideas10

You’ll see the full collection, but these are probably the ones I’d grab first.

Classic Big Top

Super colorful. Feels like the cartoons we all remember. Perfect for preschool birthdays.

Soft Pastel Circus

Same circus fun but toned down a bit if bright red isn’t really your thing.

Animal Circus

Honestly my favorite. Lots of elephants, lions, seals… and zero creepy clown energy.

Balloon Party

Perfect for first birthdays or younger kiddos who get ridiculously excited over balloons. (Which is basically all of them.)

Vintage Carnival

This one’s really cute if you’re doing popcorn buckets, ticket booths, or those old-school carnival games.

Printing Your Free Invitations for the Best Quality

JoJos Circus birthday party ideas9

I’ve printed invitations everywhere at this point.

Walgreens has honestly saved me more times than I can count because those 5×7 photo prints usually end up around twenty cents each when there’s a promo running.

If I want something a little fancier, Staples is usually my backup.

Paper makes a way bigger difference than people think.

Glossy looks super bright.

Matte feels a little softer and doesn’t end up covered in fingerprints after twenty sticky preschool hands grab one off the gift table.

Personally?

I almost always grab matte.

Mostly because someone is absolutely gonna eat pizza while holding the invitation.

Ask me how I know.

Beyond the Invite: Easy Party Stuff That Doesn’t Cost a Fortune

JoJos Circus birthday party ideas8

Birthday parties get expensive so dang fast.

I started stealing—I mean… borrowing… little ideas from Pinterest instead of buying those giant party bundles.

Some stuff that actually worked:

  • red-and-white popcorn boxes from Amazon
  • circus cupcake toppers off Etsy
  • Dollar Tree tablecloths (forever my MVP)
  • cheap balloon garland kit
  • little animal toys that doubled as favors because I’m not buying favors and decorations if I don’t have to

I swear Pinterest is dangerous though.

I go there looking for one balloon idea…

Forty-five minutes later I’m researching DIY carnival ticket booths I’ll never actually build.

After the Party…

The invitation ended up being one of my favorite little moments.

Louise kept showing people the invite and then pointing around the room saying,

“See? It looks the same!”

Like he was personally responsible for interior decorating.

One mom actually asked where I ordered them because she assumed I paid someone.

When I said, “Girl… Canva.”

She immediately pulled out her phone.

That’s honestly why I keep making these.

If I can save another mom a little money without making the invitation look cheap?

I’m happy.

Because birthday parties already cost enough.

No need to let invitations bully your wallet too.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Templates

Are these JoJo’s Circus Invitation templates really free?

Yep. You can open them in Canva and start editing without needing a design degree… or a nap afterward.

Do I need Canva Pro?

Nope! I try really hard to keep these Canva Free friendly because… well… same.

Can I change everything?

Pretty much. Fonts, colors, wording, move stuff around, delete stuff… go wild.

What size are they?

Standard 5×7, which makes printing super easy pretty much anywhere.

Can I just text the invitation?

Oh absolutely.

I’ve done that more than once when I realized school pickup was in twenty minutes and invitations were definitely not getting printed that day.

Matte or glossy?

I’m team matte all day because fingerprints drive me bananas.

But glossy does make those circus colors pop.

It’s really whichever makes you happy.

I wasn’t planning on making more JoJo’s Circus Invitation templates this year.

And then one old DVD showed up.

Funny how that works.

So I freshened everything up, cleaned up the layouts, added a few new designs I’d actually use for my own kids, and now I’m kinda obsessed with this little collection again.

If these save you an hour—or honestly just save you from scrolling Canva while cold coffee is sitting beside you—then they’re already doing their job.

Now if you’ll excuse me… I should probably go fold that laundry I definitely ignored while making these. Again.
