I was digging through bins of leftover birthday decorations with my youngest (mostly because I was looking for tape…which I still never found lol), and we stumbled across this old sailor hat from a costume party years ago.

Why We Ended Up Picking Popeye (And Honestly…It Was a Hit)
I know Popeye isn’t the first character most moms think about these days.
Everything is superheroes, dinosaurs, Bluey, Minecraft…you know the drill.
But that’s kinda why Popeye stood out.
It felt different.
And here’s something I didn’t expect…
The adults got just as excited as the kids.
My dad walked in and immediately started humming the Popeye theme song. My husband rolled his eyes but five minutes later he was literally showing the kids how Popeye walks. 🙄😂
Meanwhile the little kids?
They didn’t care whether Popeye came out in 1930-whatever.
They just thought the giant forearms were hilarious.

One time my son spent like three straight minutes talking about one little pirate flag on an invitation instead of reading literally anything else.

It did not. 😂

Not every birthday has the same vibe.

Half my decorations come from Dollar Tree and craft stores.

Bright red
White
A little yellow
That’s it.

Matte cardstock keeps winning for me.
It hides fingerprints better.
You can write little notes on the back.
And it just feels a little nicer in your hand.
If I’m short on time though…
I don’t even pretend anymore.
I just upload them for same-day printing.
Zero shame.
Birthday week is already busy enough.
