It was one of those random Tuesday afternoons where Charlotte was scrolling Disney movies while Louise was busy making our dog wear a superhero cape. Somehow that turned into a whole conversation about Lady and the Tramp, and before dinner I was already opening Canva because… honestly, that’s just how birthday planning starts in this house now. Andrew laughed because he knew I’d end up making “just one design” and somehow finish with way more than that.

Why I Gave Our Lady and the Tramp Invitation Collection a Fresh Look
I already had a few Lady and Tramp Invitation designs sitting in my Canva folder, but every time I looked at them I kept thinking, “Eh… these could be cuter.”
So I ended up giving the whole collection a little glow-up instead of starting from scratch.
Kids don’t really care if something is trendy on Pinterest. They care if they instantly recognize the characters and point at the invitation saying, “That’s my party!”
That’s honestly what I design around.
For these newer templates I leaned into those cozy Disney vibes instead of making everything super busy.
Think warm cream backgrounds, soft sky blues, little red-check picnic patterns, paw prints leading around the page, string lights, Bella Notte-inspired lanterns, spaghetti plates, meatballs, tiny hearts, and leafy park details that make everything feel like you’re having dinner outside.
The characters stay as the stars, while everything else just quietly supports them.
One thing I’ve learned after making invitations for Charlotte’s classmates is that parents usually read them in about five seconds.
If the layout is cluttered?
Nobody notices the important stuff.
So these have big names, easy-to-read party details, and plenty of breathing room.

What Makes Our 16+ Designs Unique?
I didn’t want sixteen copies with different background colors.
That always feels lazy.
Instead, every design has its own little personality.
Some lean more classic Disney.
Some are softer for younger toddlers.
A few feel almost storybook-ish.
Others have more playful puppy energy.
They’re all editable inside Canva, so changing the birthday kid’s name takes maybe two minutes…unless you start changing every single font because suddenly you think you’re a graphic designer. (Been there.)
A Glimpse at the Adorable Template Collection
Here’s a few of my favorites.
Bella Notte Picnic
Perfect if your little one loves the romantic park scene and softer Disney colors.
Puppy Playdate
Lots of paw prints, balloons, and cheerful colors for preschool birthdays.
Storybook Garden
A cozy vintage-inspired look that feels sweet without looking babyish.
Spaghetti Party
Probably the funniest one because the spaghetti dinner becomes part of the invitation design.
Classic Disney Frame
Simple, timeless, and honestly works for almost any age between 3 and 8.
Effortless Customization: Your Guide to Canva
CUSTOM YOUR FREE LADY AND THE TRAMP INVITATIONS HERE!
Step 1: Accessing Your Chosen Template
I always duplicate the template first.
Always.
The number of times I’ve accidentally edited my original file…
Let’s just say I learned that lesson the annoying way.
Once it’s copied into your Canva account, everything becomes editable.
Step 2: Personalizing Text, Dates, and Details
This part is honestly the fastest.
Replace the birthday kid’s name.
Add your party date.
Drop in the address.
Done.
Well…mostly.
I always zoom out once I’m finished because somehow I’ll have one line that’s slightly crooked and won’t notice until it’s printed.
Step 3: Changing Colors, Fonts, and Graphics (Optional)
This is where I accidentally spend another twenty minutes.
I tell myself I’m only changing the name color.
Then suddenly I’ve changed three fonts, swapped flowers for paw prints, moved a lantern, and now I’m questioning every decision I’ve ever made.
One mistake I actually caught before printing was using a pale yellow font on the cream background.
Looked adorable on my laptop.
Printed?
Almost invisible.
I switched it to a deeper red that matched Lady’s collar and everything looked way better.
Sometimes the tiny changes matter the most.
Canva Free vs. Pro Account: What You Need to Know
Everything in this collection is designed so Free Canva users can edit it.
If you already have Canva Pro, great.
You’ll have access to extra fonts and graphics if you want to personalize things even more.
But honestly?
You absolutely don’t need Pro to make these invitations look cute.
From Screen to Party: Downloading and Printing Tips
By the time I finish editing, Andrew usually asks, “Are you actually done this time?” and… no. I still zoom in one last time because I always find one random extra space somewhere. It never fails.
Best File Formats for High-Quality Printing
If you’re printing, I usually download as PDF Print. The colors stay nicer, especially if your invitation has those warm cream backgrounds and little red details.
If you’re texting it to grandparents or sending it in your school class group, a PNG looks great too. It’s quick, clear, and nobody has to download anything weird.
Home Printing vs. Professional Services: Which is Right for You?
We’ve done both.
If I’m only making five or six invitations, I’ll just print them at home on heavyweight cardstock. Easy.
If Charlotte is inviting her entire class plus cousins plus neighborhood kids (why is it always everyone?), I usually upload the file to Walgreens.
Their 5×7 photo prints are usually around $0.20 each, and honestly, they’ve saved me more than once when I realized I needed extra copies the night before. Staples is another solid option if you prefer cardstock printing instead of photo prints.
As for paper…
I almost always pick matte.
Glossy is really pretty if your design has lots of bright colors, but matte is easier to write on if you’re adding a little handwritten note or directions on the back. Plus, I think it feels a little more like an actual invitation instead of a photo.
Eco-Friendly Digital Sending Options
Not every invite needs to be printed.
Last year I texted half of ours.
No shame.
Most parents at school actually preferred getting a digital invite because it didn’t disappear into the mysterious black hole that is a kid’s backpack.
I usually save a PNG and send it through our class text group or email. Super easy.
Beyond the Invitation: Lady and the Tramp Party Ideas
I try really hard not to spend a fortune decorating. Kids remember playing together way more than they remember expensive decorations anyway.
Decorating Your “Bella Notte” Party Space
One of my favorite cheap tricks was grabbing red-and-white check tablecloths from the dollar store, hanging warm string lights around the patio, and adding fake ivy from Amazon.
It looked way fancier than it actually was.
A few budget-friendly places I always check:
Amazon – faux ivy garlands, battery-operated string lights, red gingham tablecloths
Etsy – personalized Lady and the Tramp welcome signs and cupcake toppers
Pinterest – free picnic tablescape ideas and DIY park-inspired decorations
Honestly, Pinterest is dangerous because I go looking for one decoration and suddenly it’s been 45 minutes.
Fun Games & Activities for Little Pups
The easiest game ended up being everyone’s favorite.
We hid little dog bones (plastic toys) around the backyard and called it Puppy Treasure Hunt.
Other easy ideas:
Doggy obstacle course
Pin the Collar on Lady
Bubble station
Puppy adoption table with stuffed dogs
Nothing fancy.
Just enough to keep everyone moving.
Delectable Treats and Spaghetti Supper Ideas
You kinda have to lean into the spaghetti scene.
We didn’t do a giant pasta dinner because little kids can be…particular…about noodles.
Instead we made:
Mini spaghetti cups
Meatball sliders
Garlic breadsticks
Puppy chow snack mix
Bone-shaped sugar cookies
Charlotte insisted the cookies needed tiny pink bows “because Lady would wear them.”
Fair point.

Yep.

No graphic design skills required. Promise.
Can I Use Them for Other Events Like Baby Showers?
Definitely.
I’ve actually reused invitation layouts for puppy-themed baby showers and even family picnic invitations.

What if I Need Help with Canva Customization?
Canva is honestly one of the easiest design tools I’ve used.

I use it…a lot.

After Charlotte handed these invitations out, one of the moms texted me asking where I bought them.
That made me laugh because she thought I ordered them from Etsy.
When I told her I edited them in Canva in one evening while dinner was in the oven, she immediately wanted the template link.
That was probably my favorite compliment from the whole party.
The kids recognized Lady and Tramp before they even read the invitation, they were excited about the puppy theme, and I didn’t spend a ridiculous amount of money trying to make everything look cute.
That’s kind of my goal every single birthday.
Cute enough that the kids get excited.
Easy enough that I don’t lose my mind.
If you’re planning a Disney birthday this year, I really hope these refreshed Lady and Tramp Invitation templates help make the planning part feel a little less stressful—and a lot more fun.
