Honestly? I was kinda excited.

It feels different, but not in one of those themes where you have to explain everything to the kids. They hear “forest adventure” and they’re already running around pretending to find treasure.

No complicated backstory required.

And let’s be real…kids will turn literally any stick into a bow and arrow anyway. 😂

It Already Feels Like an Adventure

That’s what I wanted these Robin Hood invitations to feel like.

I leaned into all the fun woodland stuff…

Forest greens, old parchment, little arrows, leafy vines, wooden signs, treasure maps, feathers, shields…basically anything that makes you wanna throw on boots and wander into the woods.

Oh—and I skipped those super swirly fonts.

Been there.

My mom literally called me once because she couldn’t read what time the party started.

Lesson learned. 😂

The wording stays easy to read because, trust me, parents are opening invitations while standing in a Costco checkout line. Nobody has time to hunt for the address.

And yes…

I absolutely deleted leaves after adding too many.

Why do I always think one more leaf will solve everything??

Editing took maybe ten minutes.

Let’s call it fifteen because I changed my mind on fonts approximately seventeen times.

I swapped my son’s name, updated the party info, changed a couple colors, moved one little arrow because it was bothering me…

Done.

That’s honestly why I love Canva.

You don’t have to be “creative.”

You just kinda click around until it feels right.

Don’t Skip the Test Print

Quick little tip because I almost embarrassed myself…

Always print one copy first.

Everything looked perfect on my laptop.

The RSVP number looked microscopic.

And somehow the template still had my old Google Voice number from forever ago.

Our backyard looked surprisingly cute and I definitely didn’t spend a fortune.

One thing I’ve learned…

Instead of shopping for “Robin Hood decorations,” shop for woodland textures.

You find way more stuff that way.

Hands down…

The foam bow-and-arrow game won.

Not even close.

The kids kept going back to it over and over.

• A super simple forest scavenger hunt.

Nothing fancy.

Kids honestly create half the fun themselves.

Once somebody yelled, “I’m Robin Hood!” they all took off running and made up their own game anyway.

Matte Cardstock Is My Favorite

I always lean toward matte.

Mostly because little kids touch literally everything with sticky fingers.

Glossy is pretty.

Matte survives birthday parties.

If you’re printing at home, heavier cardstock makes such a difference. It instantly makes the invitations feel nicer without spending much extra.

Or Honestly…Just Text Them

Let’s be honest.

Half the parents are gonna ask for the address again anyway.

I usually export the Canva design as a PNG and drop it into the class group chat.

Done.

The grandparents still get printed copies because they genuinely keep invitations on the refrigerator.

My mom has birthday invitations from like…three years ago still hanging up.

I don’t question it anymore.
